A courtesy call from Thanh Hoa Province delegation on Idemitsu Kosan Headquarter

From November 13 to 19, 2024, a delegation from Thanh Hoa Province, led by Mr. Lai The Nguyen, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, visited Japan to promote investment. On November 18, the delegation had a productive meeting with Idemitsu Kosan Group.

The delegation included Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Thuy, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial People’s Mobilization Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Mr. Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; and leaders from various departments, agencies, districts, towns, cities, business associations, and enterprises of the province.

Mr. Susumu Nibuya, Senior Manager of Idemitsu Kosan Group, warmly welcomed the delegation and highlighted the successful implementation and stable operation of the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Project over the past six years. This project, with over 9.3 billion USD in investment and Idemitsu holding a 35.1% equity stake, is the largest refinery and petrochemical project in Vietnam, contributing significantly to national energy security and the development of Thanh Hoa Province and the Nghi Son Economic Zone.

Mr. Lai The Nguyen emphasized that Thanh Hoa Province will continue to provide the best conditions for the project’s stable operation and development, including security and other arising issues. He urged Idemitsu Kosan and its joint venture partners to promptly implement the second phase of the project, effectively utilize the allocated land, and contribute to the production development of the joint venture and the province. Thanh Hoa Province commits to accompanying investors and resolving any difficulties to ensure the efficient operation of the plant throughout the project’s lifespan.
